Shatter Me is staged in a broken world. Everything is falling apart. Humanity is lost. All because of a false promise by The Reestablishment. They said they would fix the world by bringing prosperity, but they wrecked it instead. This power hungry force ruined the world. Everyone is living a nightmare. Worst of all, Juliette.
Imagine not knowing who you are. Not knowing ur eye color. Not knowing the time, the day, or when you will eat again. Juliette didn’t have to imagine. For years, she has been locked up, mistreated, pushed to insanity. All for what? Her fatal touch. Juliette, the protagonist, is a kind, passionate, and caring girl who holds this power; which is a blessing and a curse. While it might seem amazing, it ruined her life. It brought her to a prison where she would spend the rest of her life. Until one day, her routine changed. She got a cellmate. A stranger who could be deadly. Insane even. Just like her.
I really enjoyed reading this book because of its suspense, plot twists, action, and romance. There are many numerous plot twists about who to trust or discovering unknown information. There are fight scenes filled with action and suspense. On top of that, there are softer romantic scenes between some of the characters.
The writing style is also really interesting because, while there is a lot of description which can be boring at times, you also get an insight on Juliette's thoughts since the book is written from her perspective. To show her insanity, some of the thoughts are constantly repeated or crossed out as if she doesn’t know what to think. Sometimes, though, thoughts are crossed out because she tries to suppress them.
I 100% recommend this book and the rest of the shatter me series. If you enjoy books with action and romance, you should definitely check it out!
